MADD STOP-DWI Awards |

Since 1995, New York State highway safety partners have proudly hosted an annual recognition event to present awards acknowledging outstanding efforts and achievements in deterring drunk driving. MADD is joined by the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee, the Department of Criminal Justice Services, and the STOP-DWI Association in supporting this recognition program.
Nominations were accepted for the "MADD Recognition Awards" in categories for individual police officers, enforcement agencies, STOP-DWI Coordinators and other individuals that have made a significant contribution to reducing the incidence of drunk driving within the state. In award deliberation, special consideration was given to those individuals or departments who created an innovative approach, unique enforcement strategy, or who have developed a program that has had a positive impact from January 1, 2008 - December 31, 2009. The award categories are:
- Law Enforcement Agency Award: This award highlights an enforcement agencies' efforts in deterring drunk driving. Agency command must endorse the nomination on behalf of the department. Awards segmented by department size.
- Individual Officer Award: This award recognizes the contribution of an individual law enforcement officer's. The nomination is to be submitted by the agency command. More than one officer from an agency may be put forward, use one form per nomination. Awards are segmented by department size.
- Individual Contribution Award: This award recognizes civilian individuals or agencies who have made a significant contribution to reducing the incidence of impaired driving within the New York state. Any police agency, STOP-DWI coordinator, traffic safety professional or MADD chapter may nominate an individual for this category.
