Dear Child Passenger Safety Advocate:

New York State is proud to host the Fourth Annual Regional Child Passenger Safety Conference. This year, it will be held October 10 through October 13, 2004 at the Prime Hotel & Conference Center in Saratoga Springs, New York. Our goal is to continue to provide the most up-to-date information on all aspects of child passenger safety through a series of workshops and hands-on learning.

Attendance at the Annual Child Passenger Safety Conference is strongly recommended for child passenger safety technicians. The information and activities offered at the conference are essential to remain current in the ever-changing arena of child passenger safety. This may be the only opportunity for many of you to learn first hand from experts, to ask questions of manufacturers, to get signed off by an instructor for re-certification, and to network with other technicians. As most of you will need to re-certify in 2005, this will be an opportunity to ask questions of the National SAFE KIDS Campaign about new policies and procedures for re-certification. Everyone should consider attending this year's conference to maintain your level of expertise and efficiency.

To help to make this possible for you, we have limited the registration fee of this conference to $100.

This year, we hope to bring you even more nationally recognized child passenger safety experts to conduct workshops, demonstrations, and presentations. This year we will again offer workshops intended to specifically address law enforcement issues regarding child passenger safety. We have added more hands-on workshops including LATCH, installing special needs child safety seats, and occupant restraints on school buses. You will also find more exhibitors at this year's conference, including many child safety seat manufacturers.

On Sunday, October 10th, we are conducting a one day CPS Update Refresher Course for Certified Technicians. You must pre-register for this course, as space is limited. Also on Sunday, for the first time, a child safety seat check event will be held in conjunction with the conference. Instructors will be available at the event for those technicians who need to be signed off on their installations for re-certification. Pre-registration is required. Please indicate if you are a Senior Checker on the registration form.

If you are not a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician in New York State, please call the Prime Hotel and Conference Center for your room reservation. The room rate per night for a single is $95 or double is $110 plus 13.25% tax when reserved by August 1st. The charge for an extra person is $15 per person, per night. Children under 18 years of age may stay free in their parent's room using existing bedding. Please reference Child Passenger Safety Conference when making reservations.

If you have received thank you letters from parents or caregivers for educating them on the proper use and installation of child safety seats, please send copies to Debbie Lotito to be used at the conference.

We anticipate this year's conference to be even a bigger success than last year. The conference can accommodate only 450 attendees so get your registration in early.
